Real Madrid fans storm Almaty for Kairat clash

Real Madrid supporters arrived in Almaty on Monday ahead of their Champions League encounter with Kairat on Tuesday. The Spanish club traveled more than 6,400 kilometers from home after suffering a 5-2 loss to Atletico Madrid on Saturday. Fans walked through the Kazakh city waving flags and singing despite the seven-hour flight and three-hour time difference.

Kairat opened their Champions League run with a 4-1 defeat against Sporting in Portugal. The match represents the first home game for the Kazakh side in the competition. Real Madrid secured a 2-1 victory over Marseille in their opening fixture at the Bernabeu.

Spanish supporters expressed confidence about the outcome despite limited knowledge of their opponents. Some fans sampled local cuisine during their visit to Central Asia. The Athletic described the fixture as perhaps the most lopsided matchup in the tournament's history.
