Rhodes Stage 61 is compact and gig ready

Rhodes Music plans to release a new compact piano called the Stage 61. This smaller version keeps the famous Rhodes sound but weighs less for touring musicians. Anyone interested can place an order starting March 25, with delivery expected about six months later. The company will also make a special Launch Edition limited to just 61 units worldwide.

The Stage 61 takes inspiration from classic Rhodes pianos made during the 1960s through early 1980s. It features a simple design that focuses on playing feel and easy transport. Musicians will enjoy the pure, unprocessed Rhodes sound without modern add-ons. This model stays true to what made Rhodes famous but addresses the needs of current players.

This piano comes with 61 keys made by Kluge Klaviaturen, part of the Steinway Group. It uses passive circuits that need no power source and offers basic volume and tone knobs. At under 27 kilograms (59 pounds), this becomes the lightest Rhodes ever made. Stage 61 includes the same tines, pickups, hammer tips, and pedals as the flagship MK8 model.

Dan Goldman, the Chief Product Officer at Rhodes Music, mentions that Stage 61 delivers classic Rhodes tone in a smaller package designed by Axel Hartmann. The limited Launch Edition sports khaki-green covers with black panels and orange highlights. Prices start at $6,495 or £4,995, including tax for the standard model. The Launch Edition costs $6,995 or £5,495 with tax. Customers who pay the full amount upfront receive a free stand worth $500.
