Riot preps America's Cup to pit LCS vs Brazil

Riot just invented a new excuse for North America to possibly lose against Brazilian teams. The Americas Cup throws LCS and CBLOL runner-ups into a showdown right before the First Stand event. Games go down at the Riot Games Arena inside São Paulo over five days using best-of series formats. High placements secure free practice trips to Korea during the Mid-Season Invitational gap.

The 2026 calendar finally mimics the EMEA structure with three distinct competitive splits. Action starts with a Lock-In tournament where the victor books a ticket to Brazil. Top finishers from Spring head to Daejeon for MSI, while Summer results decide which three rosters qualify for the World Championship across North America.

Production crews plan to drag the show outside Los Angeles more frequently to reach actual humans. They intend to utilize the FaceOff studio for standard broadcasts to free up cash for traveling roadshows. Opening weekends and playoffs stay in California, but regular-season games might actually visit different cities for once.
