RJD candidate Satyendra Shah arrested in Sasaram robbery case

Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Satyendra Shah was arrested on Monday after submitting nomination papers for the Bihar Assembly elections, sparking controversy across political circles. Jharkhand Police detained Shah outside the Sasaram subdivision office on charges related to an outstanding robbery case filed at the Garhwa police station. Authorities transported him directly to Jharkhand without processing through the local Rohtas district facilities.

RJD supporters condemned the arrest as politically motivated, questioning why officials pursued years-old charges at the height of election season. The party announced plans to contest the detention in court and expressed concern about campaign disruptions in Sasaram. Legal advisers are working to preserve Shah's candidacy status as RJD competes for 143 seats statewide. The arrest has intensified tensions between Bihar and Jharkhand law enforcement agencies over the timing and necessity of the action.
