Ronald Rugumayo storms to the Pearl of Africa lead at Lugazi over Otile

South Africa-based golfer Ronald Rugumayo claimed the lead at Lugazi Hills Golf & Country Club after firing a one-under 70 during the second round of the Pearl of Africa tournament. The experienced player holds a narrow one-stroke advantage over Ronald Otile, Grace Kasango, and Marvin Max Kibirige heading into the third day. Rugumayo expressed enthusiasm about facing Otile, whom he regards as one of Uganda's most skilled golfers with an exceptional fighting spirit. Two strokes further back, Canary Kabise and Rodell Gaita Taddeo remain within striking distance after both carded 71s.

Joseph Kasozi leads the amateur division by a single stroke over Juma Abiti, Asuman Tumwesigye, and Joel Okoth. Meron Kyomugisha and Martha Babirye share the top position among gross amateur ladies following Peace Kabasweka's withdrawal. The tournament represents the final event of this year's Pearl of Africa Golf Series, which debuted in January. The series plans to expand to four competitions next year while continuing to develop elite amateur and professional golf under Uganda Golf Union guidance.
