Rotary International Reels After President Elect Quits

Francesco Arezzo from Italy will lead Rotary International during 2025-26 after the previous leader stepped down early. The Rotary board picked Arezzo from candidates who applied two years ago when the group chose future presidents. He takes over July 1 as head of the worldwide service organization that helps communities. Arezzo comes from Sicily where he works as a tooth doctor and serves many dental groups. The emergency selection shows how Rotary handles unexpected leadership changes.

The new president will keep the Unite for Good theme that encourages members to work together. Rotary has 1.4 million volunteers across more than 200 countries who tackle local problems. Arezzo spent 30 years with Rotary and held many important jobs within the organization. He knows how the group operates and plans for long-term projects like ending polio disease. His wife Anna Maria runs tourism businesses and they have two children together.
