RTS Link train set arrives at Wadi Hana depot

The RTS Link project connecting Johor Bahru and Singapore has reached a significant operational milestone with the arrival of Train Set 02 at Wadi Hana Depot for testing and commissioning. The four-car train completed a 541-kilometer journey from the CRRC Rolling Stock Centre in Batu Gajah, Perak, traveling aboard low-loader trailer trucks at approximately 70 kilometers per hour.

RTS Operations chief executive Ahmad Marzuki Ariffin explained that the transport operation involved meticulous planning with multiple safety inspections conducted at stopovers in Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, and Kempas Toll. Each of the four coaches weighing 32 tons was carefully positioned onto tracks using heavy cranes, with ground stability receiving particular attention during depot preparation.

Eight train sets will eventually serve the four-kilometer rail link between Bukit Chagar and Woodlands North, with four units scheduled for delivery to Wadi Hana Depot by December 2025. RTS Operations, a joint venture between Prasarana RTS Operations and SMRT RTS, expects the system to begin carrying up to 10,000 passengers hourly in each direction when operations commence in early 2027.
