Kavango East folks can stop making road trips for basic checkups after businessman Johnny Doeseb and his crew launched Kaisosi Medical Centre at Rundu. The private facility opened its doors to help the town's 118,000-plus residents who previously had to bounce elsewhere for X-rays, dialysis, lab work, and other services that public hospitals struggled to provide because of equipment shortages.
Doeseb said he jumped from construction and fishing into healthcare after watching families suffer from limited medical access in the region. Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare showed up for the opening and gave props to the founders for building something the area desperately needed.
The center will handle everything from HIV tests to pharmacy services while taking pressure off government clinics that were already stretched thin.
