President William Ruto went to a church service in Elgeyo Marakwet County on Sunday. The service was a homecoming and thanksgiving for Kichumba Murkomen, the new Cabinet Secretary for the Interior. Many MPs joined President Ruto at the service. They will likely talk about politics after the service.
At the same time, Vice President Kithure Kindiki attended a different church service in Embu. He has not been seen much in public recently. On Saturday, Kindiki said he was on a short vacation that President Ruto approved. He said he feels energized and ready to help the president in the new year.
Some people thought Kindiki might be having problems with President Ruto because he missed some important events. These events included President Ruto's New Year's Eve dinner, a cultural festival in Siaya County, and meetings with Ghana's president-elect and the African Union Commission chairperson. Kindiki also did not go to the funeral of Speaker Moses Wetang'ula's mother on Friday.
But Kindiki said people should not believe rumors about him and the president. He said he is thankful President Ruto let him take some time off. He looks forward to supporting the president and helping Kenya grow.
