Ruto Faces Backlash Over ODM Picks

President Ruto says some people feel mad at him for putting ODM leaders in his Cabinet. Critics point to Mbadi running Treasury and Wandayi heading Energy despite not backing him in 2022. Ruto stands firm that Kenya's government serves everyone who pays taxes, regardless of how they voted.

The president works with several ODM figures led by his former rival, Raila Odinga, in what he calls a broad-based arrangement. Five Cabinet spots went to ODM members, with Joho, Oparanya, and Askul among them.

Ruto also warned future opponents against tribal politics before the 2027 election. He told people in Rongo, Homa Bay, that Kenyans will choose leaders based on real plans, not anger or hatred. The president thinks voters care about who offers solid ideas for building roads and bringing electricity and water.
