Ruto salutes outgoing Italy envoy Natali as Nairobi-Rome ties deepen

President William Ruto conducted a farewell ceremony for Italian Ambassador Roberto Natali at State House in Nairobi on Monday. The diplomat concluded his posting after strengthening bilateral ties between the two governments. Ruto acknowledged the partnership spanning more than six decades across commerce, agriculture, medical services, and education. The president stated Kenya remains prepared to collaborate with Italy on implementing the Mattei Plan for Africa.

Italy provides Kenya with machinery, pharmaceuticals, and mineral fuels through trade agreements. Kenya exports horticultural products, coffee and tea to Italian markets. The diplomatic relationship began in 1963 when Italy recognized Kenyan independence. Bilateral cooperation focuses on sustainable agriculture, social services and governance under a development framework.
