School administrators across Kabarole District and Fort Portal Tourism City are pressing government officials to station military personnel at educational facilities following the weekend violence that left multiple people dead. Armed attackers struck police and army sites in Kasese, Bundibugyo and Fort Portal on Saturday, killing at least 20 assailants along with one soldier and one civilian woman while authorities detained more than 35 suspects.
State Minister for Local Government Victoria Businge Rusoke organized an emergency security conference at district offices in Kitumba, where educators from public and private institutions met with defense agencies and local officials. Rev. Balinda Richardson from Nyakasura School said recent assaults on campuses require the immediate placement of defense force members and police within school grounds.
