SA delegates cozy up to investors in frosty Davos talks

South Africa's finance minister is in Davos trying to convince rich people to invest there. Enoch Godongwana is leading a delegation, including Trade Minister Mpho Parks Tau to the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. Their pitch focuses on economic reforms and positioning the country as a gateway to the African continent.

The delegation includes Industrial Development Corporation bigwigs like Gloria Serobe, CEO Mmakgoshi Lekhethe, and CFO Isaac Malevu. They're pushing a story of improved energy infrastructure and fiscal stability. The goal is to secure partnerships for sectors like manufacturing and green tech.

This year's forum theme centers on dialogue, which the South African team heavily promotes. They aim to use the event for networking on global supply chains and the African Continental Free Trade Area. Discussions also involve navigating international trade tensions to benefit emerging economies.

The team highlighted efforts to tackle youth unemployment and boost gender equality in business. Meetings focus on drawing foreign investment into mining, agriculture, and digital innovation. Their presence underscores a push for shared growth and structural economic changes.
