Sabah Politician Denies Mining Scandal Allegations, Threatens Lawsuit

A top political figure in Sabah has fired back at claims he took dirty money from mining deals. Jahid Jahim serves as deputy president for PBS and represents Tamparuli in the state assembly. Someone accused him of pocketing 150,000 ringgit to help approve mining permits. The politician says these charges are complete lies. He plans to fight back through the courts.

Jahim told reporters he never touched a single cent from any mining business. His area has never given out permits for digging or prospecting work. The ministry he works for has no power over who gets mining rights. He blames enemies of trying to cook up fake corruption stories about him. These people use news websites to spread their made-up tales.

The assemblyman warns that rushing to judge people before trials happen damages how laws work. He points to similar attacks on Jeffrey Kitingan from the STAR party. Both men think someone wants to wreck the state government before voters go to polls again. This kind of political dirty tricks has happened in Sabah since the 1960s.

Jahim says he will talk to lawyers about what to do next. He might take the news website and its writers to court over the false claims. The deputy president wants to clear his name from these corruption charges. He believes the timing of these attacks shows they are part of a bigger plan to hurt his party.
