SADC Finance Chiefs Descend on Vic Falls to Tackle Cash

Finance leaders from across Southern Africa will meet at Victoria Falls for important talks about regional money systems. The Southern African Development Community wants to speed up financial cooperation between member countries. Ministers and central bank chiefs plan to review major projects that connect regional economies. They will discuss the new SADC Regional Development Fund that helps pay for roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

Officials will talk about ways to stop money laundering and terrorism financing across borders. The group wants stronger rules to protect financial systems from criminals. Ministers will check how well different countries manage their economies and debts. Angola, Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo will face special reviews of their economic performance.

Senior treasury workers start meetings on June 9 before the main ministerial sessions begin. Central bank representatives join discussions on June 10 to prepare recommendations. The talks aim to create better financial markets that work together across the region. Leaders hope these changes will bring more economic growth and stability to Southern Africa.
