The Sports Authority of India greenlit several major facility upgrades, including a new Poligras Paris GT Zero hockey surface for the SAI Centre in Bengaluru and modern laser target systems for the Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi. Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya chaired the governing body meeting, stressing that these athlete-focused improvements are essential for building medal potential ahead of major competitions like the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
Other approved projects involve constructing multipurpose indoor halls at three national training centers. The facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will feature a specialized boxing area along with spaces for volleyball and badminton. Similar halls are planned for the Patiala and Thiruvananthapuram centers to support year-round training and sports science programs. Additionally, new eight-lane synthetic athletic tracks will be installed at the SAI training centers in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, and Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, both recognized for developing high-caliber athletes.
