Sakaja creates six Nairobi boroughs in major reshuffle

Nairobi County has established six administrative regions called Boroughs, each managed by appointed officials responsible for coordinating government operations across their jurisdictions. Governor Johnson Sakaja implemented the reorganization alongside personnel transfers affecting subcounty administrators, ward leaders, environment officers, and enforcement personnel.

The Western Borough under Janet Waeni Kimeu encompasses Westlands, Dagoretti North, and Dagoretti South constituencies, while John Saruni will oversee Roysambu, Kasarani, and Ruaraka areas in the Northern region. Acting County Secretary Godfrey Akumali indicated the restructuring aims to improve efficiency and service delivery, with Borough managers directly supervising all county functions within their territories. Additional regions include Southern, Eastern, South Eastern, and Central Boroughs, led by Darasso Luka Wario, George Muga, Susan Wanjiru Gichamba, and Charles Baldy Mabonga, respectively. The changes became effective immediately following official notification to staff.
