Samia opens Tanzania assembly with growth plan

Tanzania's leader has instructed government officials to develop strategies focused on improving citizens' quality of life as the country's 13th Parliament begins its term in Dodoma. President Samia Suluhu Hassan announced that 7,000 teaching positions and 5,000 healthcare roles have already been advertised to address demands for better public services, warning that officials who fail to meet public expectations will be replaced.

The administration plans to complete the Standard Gauge Railway project while launching new rail connections from Tanga to Musoma and from Mtwara through Mchuchuma and Liganga to Mbamba Bay in Ruvuma. Hassan emphasized that development efforts will target economic opportunities for youth, women, persons with disabilities, and elderly populations across urban and rural areas, with priority given to sectors including agriculture, tourism, industry, construction, and mining.
