Samsung bets on 512 TB Gen6 SSDs as AI eats enterprise storage

Samsung and InnoGrit announced enterprise PCIe Gen6 solid-state drive releases during the GMIF Innovation Summit 2025 held on Shenzen. Samsung Chief Technology Officer Kevin Yoo confirmed the company will deliver PM1763 Gen6 SSD solutions in early 2026 with double performance and 25-watt power consumption. The manufacturer plans 512-terabyte Gen6 variants by 2027 after rolling out 256-terabyte Gen5 models.

InnoGrit will launch AI Enterprise PCIe Gen6 drives by 2026 with 25 million IOPS capabilities. Silicon Motion presented its SM8466 Gen6 controller reaching 28 gigabytes per second speeds and 512-terabyte capacities for 2026 enterprise deployment. Consumer Gen6 products remain distant with manufacturers projecting availability between 2028 and 2029 as enterprise applications drive current development priorities.
