SK Hynix has dethroned Samsung from its decades-long position as the leading DRAM manufacturer. Samsung experienced its largest market share decline since 1999, falling 8.8 percentage points from 41.5 percent to 32.7 percent within six months. SK Hynix captured 36.3 percent of the market, marking the first time the company has surpassed Samsung in 33 years. The shift resulted from SK Hynix securing major HBM contracts with NVIDIA while Samsung failed to establish similar partnerships. SK Hynix gained early advantages by becoming one of the first companies to produce full-scale HBM4 solutions ahead of competitors.
