Samsung's S26 Ultra gets a privacy gimmick instead of a bigger battery

Samsung introduces Flex Magic Pixel technology for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, creating artificial intelligence-powered privacy protection through display manipulation. The feature controls individual OLED pixels to adjust viewing angles, mimicking traditional privacy screen protectors without physical accessories. This advancement debuted at the 2024 Mobile World Congress and eliminates brightness reduction problems associated with conventional privacy films. AI algorithms activate when users open applications, generating privacy effects automatically. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 may receive similar capabilities.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra becomes the first traditional smartphone featuring both Flex Magic Pixel and Color Filter on Encapsulation technologies. CoE replaces standard OLED polarizers with color filters positioned above thin-film encapsulation layers. This configuration produces deeper black levels while enhancing outdoor screen visibility. Industry analysts consider CoE essential for privacy technology implementation since it compensates for light reduction during Flex Magic Pixel activation. Samsung exhibited the combined technologies at K-Display 2025, demonstrating enhanced user privacy without compromising display performance.
