Sanyatwe Cheers New Sports and Arts Role

The former army chief thanked President Mnangagwa for making him the Sports, Recreation, Arts, and Culture Minister. He feels deeply honored by this new job. The President swore him in at the State House located in Harare yesterday. Vice Presidents Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi watched the ceremony along with many high-ranking officials.

Lt-Gen Sanyatwe retired from military service just days ago. He expressed gratitude to the President, who leads the country and commands all defense forces. The ex-army boss said he feels humbled about the trust placed in him to run this important ministry. He believes the President showed special faith by picking him for this role.

Sanyatwe talked about his plans for his new position. He sees arts and culture as powerful ways to unite the nation and give young people more chances. These areas help identify who they are as Zimbabweans and where they came from. He promised to work with everyone involved as he started his new leadership journey.

The retired general aims to strengthen everything related to Zimbabwean identity. He wants these cultural elements to be recognized both inside the country and around the world. Sanyatwe pledged teamwork and unity as he took over his new office. He replaces Dr Kirsty Coventry, who recently won the election as president of the International Olympic Committee.

Sports fans expect the new minister to fix big problems like poor sports facilities. Zimbabwe lacks proper stadiums that meet FIFA standards. The national soccer team must play home games in foreign countries because of this issue. People hope Sanyatwe will speed up the current work to improve local sports venues.

President Mnangagwa has previously appointed former military leaders to government jobs. These past commanders earned great respect for their service to the country. Many believe Sanyatwe will bring military-style discipline to his department. He might also add positive traits like punctuality, hard work, respect for duties, and selfless public service to his new role.
