School collapse in Rajasthan's Jhalawar kills four children, rescue underway

A government school building collapsed Friday in Jhalawar district, Rajasthan, killing four children and trapping several others beneath debris. The tragedy struck the Government Higher Primary School in Piplodi village when heavy rainfall weakened the deteriorating structure. Ten students received hospital treatment, with three facing critical conditions according to police officials. Over fifty pupils attended classes when the roof suddenly gave way during school hours.

Villagers and teachers immediately began manual rescue efforts, pulling trapped children from the rubble before emergency services arrived. State Education Minister Madan Dilawar ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident while directing officials to provide optimal medical care. District authorities deployed JCB machinery and disaster response teams to continue search operations. The old building had operated despite its poor structural condition, raising questions about safety protocols at government educational facilities across the region.
