SDP State Chairmen Back Suspension of National Leadership and Demand Probe

State leaders from the Social Democratic Party support removing their national chairman from office. Femi Adeniyi Ferrari spoke for the state chairmen during a Friday meeting in Abuja. The group backed the decision to suspend Shehu Musa Gabam along with two other top officials. State officials also removed national auditor Clarkson Nnadi and youth leader Ogbonna Chukuwma from their positions. The state chairmen said grassroots members wanted these changes to happen.

Party leaders denied any internal fighting exists within their organization. They promised to build stronger democratic processes for all members. The chairmen accused Gabam of keeping party funds instead of sharing money with state chapters. State officials said they repeatedly asked for their constitutional share of party resources. The national chairman ignored their requests and threatened to remove state leaders who complained about missing payments.

The state forum criticized Gabam for making decisions without consulting other party officials. They called his leadership style dictatorial and harmful to party unity. State chairmen demanded a complete investigation into all corruption charges. They offered to provide someone for the disciplinary panel to ensure fairness. The leaders want all findings made public without delays.

The party officials said donated money should develop the organization rather than fund personal lifestyles. They promised to restore trust between party leadership and ordinary members. State chairmen emphasized that opposition parties must maintain higher ethical standards. The forum called for true federalism within party operations where states collect funds first.
