Sekhukhune United and Richards Bay played to a 1-1 draw at New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday night as both clubs earned a single point from their Betway Premiership fixture in Polokwane. Ronaldo Maarman put the home side ahead during the 69th minute before Gabadinho Mhango leveled the match eight minutes later with assistance from Lwandile Mabuya.
The hosts controlled possession through much of the contest but failed to capitalize on early opportunities. Keletso Makgalwa tested goalkeeper Ian Otieno during the 13th minute while Etiosa Ighodaro missed over the crossbar shortly after halftime. Maarman broke the deadlock after coming off the bench when he converted a loose ball inside the penalty area. Richards Bay responded through Mhango's close-range finish that denied Sekhukhune all three points despite their territorial advantage.
The result leaves Sekhukhune sitting seventh with 15 points from 10 matches while Richards Bay remains 13th on 10 points. Both teams return from the international break later this month.
