Sekondi Gunman Jailed 10 Years for Hospital Hold Up

Stanley Afaku received a 10-year prison sentence for robbing a hospital security guard at gunpoint. The 36-year-old Nigerian man attacked Nash Arthur during February at Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital. Judge Naa Amberley Akowuah ordered Afaku's deportation after he completes his jail term. Sekondi circuit court convicted the armed robber after he admitted guilt. Ghana Immigration Service will handle the deportation process.

Afaku and partner Samuel Nickson tied up the security guard with his shirt during the attack. The robbers stole Arthur's mobile phone before moving to the hospital pharmacy. They took a flat-screen television from the patient department area. Police arrested Afaku at Esiama Bafana ghetto based on intelligence reports. The suspect confessed and named Nickson as his crime partner.

Nickson faces separate robbery charges and denied involvement during court proceedings. Authorities remanded him to police custody until his next court appearance. His case returns to court on June 24 for further hearings. Police Superintendent Olivia Adiku released details about the hospital robbery case. Western Region police continue investigating other crimes linked to both suspects.
