A Sessions Court judge has sentenced four individuals to ten years in prison for a gang robbery. Judge Musli Abdul Hamid imposed the sentence on Mohd Ikmarruddin Adery, Mohd Farus Junaidi, Zaidi Majani, and Nor Atiesya Mohamad Effindy after they admitted to the crime. The three male convicts were also sentenced to five strokes of the cane each.
The group was convicted of robbing a 23-year-old man at a hotel. According to the case facts, the victim was confronted in a hotel room by the accused, one of whom pretended to be the husband of a woman present. The assailants threatened the victim and stole his car keys, identity card, and mobile phone before fleeing in his vehicle.
Their jail term was ordered to begin from their date of their arrest. The charge carried a maximum penalty of twenty years imprisonment and whipping.
