Selangor aims for 70% of Malaysia's aerospace operations with new Selangor Aero Park

The Selangor government is intensifying efforts to establish itself as the nation's aerospace and aviation hub, aiming to house up to 70% of the country’s operations in the state, said Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

He noted that Selangor currently holds 67% of the market share in the aerospace and aviation sector, following the launch of the 600-acre Selangor Aero Park (SAP) near KL International Airport (KLIA) Aeropolis. The park has seen strong interest, with 100 acres already occupied.

Amirudin expressed confidence that the first 200 acres of the park would be booked by the end of this year or early 2026. He added that the state is exploring drone technology opportunities and has earmarked 1,000 acres in Kuala Selangor for a drone excellence center.

Looking ahead, Amirudin emphasized the importance of human capital development, highlighting the need for schools and training centers alongside manufacturing and MRO facilities in SAP to sustain the industry’s growth.
