Selangor to decide fate of 19 Kampung Jawa residents next week

Selangor's chief minister announced that authorities will decide the future of 19 property owners displaced by expressway construction as early as next week. Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari told reporters on Sunday that a special session scheduled for November 3 will bring together state officials, the West Coast Expressway company, and federal agencies to resolve lingering disputes affecting residents who have not yet moved from Kampung Jawa in Klang.

Amirudin said the gathering will examine recent project developments and address technical problems, plus communication breakdowns among people living in the affected zone. He emphasized that provincial authorities remain dedicated to finishing the highway without sacrificing the welfare of displaced homeowners. Most earlier confusion arose from technical complications and poor information sharing between involved groups, which officials are now fixing.

The expressway construction dispute gained public attention after the media reported that a group of residents refused relocation despite completed land purchases by government representatives. The highway links Banting in Selangor to Taiping in Perak as part of regional infrastructure expansion, though some sections have experienced acquisition obstacles and construction setbacks that prompted resident complaints.
