Seven dead after minibus and bus collide on the Farafenni highway

A totally preventable highway smash took multiple lives in a brutal crash. This disaster went down on the road between Farafenni and Senegambia, claiming seven people and injuring several more. Two Senegalese vehicles, a minibus and a larger passenger bus, met in a horrific collision near a military checkpoint close to the Second Infantry Battalion barracks.

Eyewitnesses described the minibus carrying fourteen people from Senegal toward Casamance. It crashed into a bigger bus moving in the opposite direction with over fifty passengers. Excessive speed caused the impact, according to those who saw it happen. The force of the wreck severely damaged both vehicles beyond recognition.

Seven passengers died immediately at the scene. Multiple people sustained serious injuries from the violent collision. Medical teams transported two victims to Farafenni General Hospital for urgent treatment. Five other injured individuals required transfer to additional medical facilities for more specialized care.

Soldiers from the local Second Infantry Battalion responded quickly alongside fire and ambulance crews. These teams handled the difficult rescue and evacuation work at the wreck site. Their efforts pulled survivors from the mangled vehicles for medical attention.

Authorities reiterated their standard plea for drivers to follow speed limits. They emphasized strict obedience to traffic rules as a basic requirement. This call aims to stop similar tragedies from occurring on the roads. The entire incident highlights the deadly consequences of reckless driving behavior.
