Shatta Wale rejected his mother's neglect allegation

Three or four cars, a rented house, cash on multiple occasions, and the man still got called a deadbeat son on camera. Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, pushed back hard on the Honest Bunch Podcast in Nigeria after his mother took her grievances public.

Elsie Evelyn Avemegah had gone around telling interviewers and posting videos claiming she'd been struggling through hypertension and money problems with no word from her son in over ten years.

His counter was blunt. He called her performance theatrical, said his sisters and father weren't pleased with the stunt at all, and traced the whole thing back to an old unresolved fight between his parents that he's tried to patch up more than once.

Part of the friction, by his reading, comes from her belief that he leans toward his dad, the parent who guided him growing up. He insists he's handed cash to both sides repeatedly.

Nobody in the family is broke, according to him, since his siblings handle their own bills. He'd rather funnel his money toward fans through donations anyway.
