Sheikh Bashir Uddin hails the July Uprising as a catalyst for inclusive governance

Commerce and Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin addressed attendees at the July Renaissance-2025 commemorative ceremony held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. The ministry organized this event to honor the 2024 July Uprising memory. Bashir characterized the student-led movement as Bangladesh's first step toward establishing an equitable and people-centered governance system. Participants observed one minute of silence for fallen protesters before proceedings began.

The adviser emphasized how the uprising generated fresh political awareness among citizens. He advocated for administrative reforms that prioritize public voices and data-driven decision making. Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Nasreen Jahan chaired the program while Special Envoy Lutfey Siddiqi attended as guest. Md. Sabbir Ahmed, who lost his sight during August protests, shared his personal experience with the audience.

Bashir inaugurated various activities by donating blood personally. The ministry distributed Umrah flight tickets and financial assistance to eleven visually impaired movement participants. Painting contest winners received domestic airline tickets as recognition for their participation.
