Shettima flies to New York to announce Nigeria's NDCs at UNGA

Nigerian Vice-President Kashim Shettima traveled from Abuja to New York for the United Nations General Assembly's 80th session. Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media and Communications, confirmed the departure through an official statement Sunday. The assembly convenes from Monday, September 22, through Sunday, September 28, bringing together world leaders for diplomatic discussions. Shettima serves as President Bola Tinubu's representative at this significant international gathering. The vice-president will present Nigeria's official position during the high-level general debates.

Multiple diplomatic activities await Shettima during his weeklong visit to the United States. He plans to participate in various side events alongside other global dignitaries attending the assembly. Climate change discussions will feature prominently when Shettima announces Nigeria's updated Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement framework.
