Sierra Leonean in court over sus car cash swipe

A Sierra Leonean man denied theft allegations after prosecutors accused him of stealing over $8,200 from a parked Toyota at Kotu in Kanifing Municipality. Gbassay Touray entered his not guilty plea before Principal Magistrate Sallah M'bai, following charges under the Criminal Offences Act for vehicle-related larceny involving cash worth approximately 602,700 dalasis.

The prosecution requested additional time to gather witnesses while warning that the defendant might flee across borders without strict bail terms. Magistrate M'bai approved release contingent on three Gambian guarantors who must surrender national identification cards matching their registered mobile phone numbers, with proceedings scheduled to resume next month.
