Sir Ronald Sanders collects top honour at UG

The University of Guyana will award a Doctor of Laws degree to Ambassador Sir Ronald Sanders of Antigua and Barbuda during its upcoming convocation. The university described him as a transformative diplomatic and academic figure, acknowledging his five-decade career advocating for small states in international forums.

He is among nine individuals selected to receive honorary doctorates this year. Other honorees include business leader Komal Samaroo, celebrated athletes and artists, and engineering professional Egbert Carter. These recipients were chosen after a lengthy review process for their sustained excellence and contributions to society.

The university stated that these individuals exemplify leadership and innovation. Their recognition is intended to inspire graduating students, with over 3,700 students scheduled to receive their diplomas and degrees during the convocation ceremonies.
