Skrywer blasts electoral bodies for chaos

Landless People’s Movement councilor Ivan Skrywer said African electoral commissions are fueling instability after recent unrest in Cameroon and Tanzania. He called the moment a test for election systems across the continent and argued that commissions rely on politically aligned judges to shield their actions. Skrywer said credibility is eroding because decisions reflect politics rather than facts.

He urged rapid reforms to protect peace and democracy, saying citizens should have greater power to judge how election laws are applied. Skrywer warned that formerly calm nations are losing patience with non democratic, biased and authoritarian governments. He called for an urgent, continent-wide response to restore confidence in elections and safeguard stability.
