Smokey Robinson Returns with Covers Album on Hope and Unity

Smokey Robinson plans to release a new album featuring inspirational cover songs in April. The collection titled What The World Needs Now follows his previous release, Gasms, from 2023. This upcoming project focuses on themes of hope, love, and unity through carefully selected music from various artists.

The legendary soul performer has recorded his versions of songs from numerous respected musicians. The track list includes material originally performed by Bob Marley, the Staple Singers, UB40, and Carole King. Robinson also collaborated with the Temptations to create a fresh recording of his earlier composition, Be Kind To The Growing Mind.

Music fans can already hear two songs from the forthcoming album. Robinson has made available his interpretations of William DeVaughn's Be Thankful For What You've Got and Bill Withers' Lean On Me. These tracks demonstrate the musical direction of the complete album. Listeners can access both songs through standard music platforms.

A promotional video for What The World Needs Now has also been released. The trailer provides additional information about the project and its musical content. Robinson continues his distinguished career with this collection of meaningful compositions that reflect his current artistic focus on positive messages through familiar songs.
