So now you need N1 million to lose to the PDP in Taraba, says APC

Taraba State's opposition party has raised concerns about the electoral commission's practices ahead of the local government polls. The All Progressives Congress accused the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission of implementing policies that benefit the ruling Peoples Democratic Party. Chairman El-Sudi Ibrahim Tukura released a statement highlighting significant fee increases for candidate tax clearance certificates. The commission raised costs from previous amounts of N100,000 to an unprecedented N1 million.

APC officials characterized these changes as deliberate attempts to exclude opposition candidates from participating. They argued that such financial barriers create unequal conditions for political competition. The party warned against government interference in candidate selection processes. Political observers noted that similar complaints have emerged during past electoral cycles. Opposition leaders called upon civil society groups and election monitors to ensure transparent proceedings while urging the electoral body to reconsider recent policy decisions.
