Soludo Drops N14bn Pension Bomb in Anambra

Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has paid off seven years of pension debt left behind from the previous administration. He made this announcement at the 2025 Workers' Day event in Awka. The government cleared pension arrears from 2018, 2019, and 2020, with only 2021 payments still pending.

Soludo told workers his team had tackled N14 billion in civil service pension debt. He called caring for state employees a moral duty despite money troubles nationwide. His administration aims to keep improving workplace conditions with available funds.

Labor leader Humphrey Nwafor praised these efforts but asked for faster action on the Contributory Pension Scheme. He requested payment of the 17.5 percent special allowance for non-teaching staff at basic education and post-primary schools. Nwafor also pushed for the full implementation of the judiciary and health worker salary structures. The union asked for more training programs and better security across all job sectors.
