Sony's PlayStation 5 console reached 80.3 million shipped units during the first quarter of 2025. The company delivered 2.5 million consoles this quarter compared to 2.4 million units during the same period last year. Software sales climbed significantly with full game purchases rising from 53.6 million to 65.9 million units. First-party titles contributed 6.9 million sales versus 6 million from the previous year. Digital purchases represented 83 percent of all game sales.
PlayStation Network recorded 123 million monthly active users during this reporting period. This figure marks a six percent increase from 116 million users registered during the first quarter of 2024. The Game and Network Services division generated eight percent more revenue than the previous year. Despite these positive results, the PlayStation 5 trails behind PlayStation 4 sales when comparing identical timeframes. The PlayStation 4 achieved 82.3 million shipments by June 2018.
