South African surviving DJ eyes healing as he returns to the site of tragedy

DJ and music producer Chymamusique recently went back to the site where a tragic car accident nearly killed him. The devastating crash happened on the N1 near Polokwane in Limpopo and claimed five lives, including his close friend and colleague DJ Poizen, while leaving Chymamusique critically injured and requiring six surgeries.

The 35-year-old artist, whose real name is Collen Ntala Mmotla, is a Limpopo-born deep house maestro widely recognized for hit tracks such as Speak Lord (Retro Remix), Lost in Words (Main Saxed Mix), and Don't Wait Till I'm Gone (Musique Chant).

During his visit to the scene, Chymamusique shared his reflections with images of the area, offering a glimpse into the emotional weight of returning to the place where his life changed forever. He drove past the spot where his existence transformed permanently, where five special people were lost. Forever loved, forever remembered, and the creator of life knows all answers, while He will heal those who are directly and indirectly affected.

In a video shared from the site, small signs and roadside markers can be seen, including one bearing the name DJ POIZEN, which appears to serve as a memorial. The placement of the marker stands in stark contrast to the ordinary surroundings, transforming the stretch of road into a solemn place of remembrance. Notably, a speed camera has since been installed at the exact location of the accident, signaling an effort to improve road safety and prevent future tragedies.

Since being discharged from the hospital, Chymamusique has openly documented his recovery journey on social media from his first surgery to his final operation, through physiotherapy, public donations, and ultimately his gradual return to work.
