South Sudan Bombings Kill Seven in Fangak

Bombs hit Fangak County in South Sudan, killing seven people. Twenty others suffered injuries when explosives hit a local pharmacy. The blast burned the pharmacy building completely. It also damaged parts of the nearby hospital.

Medecins Sans Frontieres said Old Fangak Hospital serves more than 110,000 locals. These people already face problems finding medical care. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, and neither the government nor army officials have spoken about what happened.

South Sudan officially entered peace after a 2018 agreement ended five years of civil war. That war pitted forces loyal to President Salva Kiir against those supporting First Vice President Riek Machar. Authorities arrested Machar in March, saying he tried to start a new rebellion. Many nations worry that this arrest might start a fight again.
