Zimbabwe Ministers Go Wild for Culture Month

President Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe's culture keeps changing but stays tied to national identity. He told Cabinet members in Harare that all citizens should support their heritage. The President spoke as he and other officials wore national dress during National Culture Month. He stressed that the national dress helps make sure future generations feel proud of their culture.

The national dress shows more than just cloth and patterns - it represents Zimbabwe's history and values, said Mnangagwa. It shows the strength of the people and their lively traditions. Cabinet members agreed last week to wear national dress as a way to honor their cultural roots. UNESCO named May 21 as World Day of Cultural Diversity, but Zimbabwe celebrates throughout May.

The theme this year is "Celebrating Indigenous Voices" with events planned until May 31. These celebrations will display local languages, music, dance, food, and crafts across the country. The first part focuses on traditional cooking, followed by Indigenous Fashion Week. The President will officially launch Culture Month activities during the third week of May. He asked officials to champion cultural values all year long, not just for special events.
