SpaceX Rebuilds Texas Test Stand after Starship Blast

SpaceX workers are busy building a new ground test stand at their Texas launch tower. The rocket company lost their testing facilities when everything blew up last month during a major accident. The Starship program has faced serious problems throughout 2025 as the second-generation spacecraft keeps failing important test flights. Engineers say the recent disaster will slow down their testing schedule since rebuilding takes much longer than fixing broken rockets. The space company can make new hardware quickly but constructing damaged buildings requires months of work.

This marks the second time SpaceX suffered major infrastructure damage during Starship development. Back in 2023 the company attempted their first rocket flight and the launch pad took a beating from engine exhaust. The thrust from Super Heavy booster engines caused extensive damage that forced SpaceX to completely rebuild their launch pad. Workers added a water deluge system to control the rocket exhaust and the entire repair process lasted six months. The setback delayed their second test flight until November of that year.

SpaceX originally tested ship engines right on the launch pad through a special test mount. The company later built separate ground testing facilities that were damaged during last month's upper-stage rocket explosion. Local news footage showed extensive damage across the test site with cleanup crews moving in quickly to clear debris. A faulty pressurized tank caused the explosion according to SpaceX officials. The company plans to replace defective tanks with qualified ones for future ships.
