Spain's recorded music revenue climbed 11.6% to €181.4m

Spain's recorded music wholesale revenue hit €181.4 million in H1 2026, up 11.6% year-over-year. Paid subscriptions generated €121 million of that total with 15.1% growth, now representing 66.7% of all recorded music income. Digital business reached €160.5 million while physical sales climbed 20.3% to €20.9 million despite streaming dominance.

Vinyl revenues jumped 27.7% to €15.3 million and comprise 73% of physical format sales. Ad-supported audio streaming rose 7.1% while video dropped 8.5%, reversing previous year trends. Permanent downloads stayed flat at 0.4% growth as access models continue replacing ownership. Retail value totaled €321.6 million versus the wholesale trade figures Promusicae reports.

Subscription income grew 168.2% since H1 2020 when it stood at €45.1 million. Price increases on Spotify Premium from €10.99 to €11.99 monthly affected H1 2026 comparisons against prior-year periods. Spain's 11.6% growth outpaced Germany's 5.4% and the United States' 6.9% during the same timeframe. The market ranked 14th globally in 2024 after collapsing 80% between 2001 and 2013 due to piracy.
