Square Enix Jacob Navok says Final Fantasy is doomed by Fortnite and Roblox

Jacob Navok used to work at Square Enix as their business director. He posted a long message about how video games have changed completely. The industry moved away from making single games that people buy and finish. Companies started focusing on games that act like social networks instead. Players spend their time differently than they did before.

Young gamers love platform games like Fortnite and Roblox more than traditional titles. These games keep players engaged for months or years instead of just weeks. Social media apps like TikTok also compete for the same attention that games want. Traditional game companies struggle to find enough players for their expensive projects. Even major releases fail to attract the audiences they need.

Microsoft recently canceled several game projects because of these changes. The company believes artificial intelligence offers better investment opportunities than making new Xbox games. Sony faces similar problems and keeps trying to create their own version of Fortnite. Nintendo might survive as a content company but other firms may not be able to adapt.

Artificial intelligence will change gaming even more in the coming years. Players will create their own interactive worlds using AI tools within the next decade. Major tech companies are already building systems that compete directly with video games. The companies with the most players and creators will generate the most money and success.
