Squash's father detained by ICE as artist awaits sentencing

Dancehall performer Squash awaits sentencing in Florida following a guilty plea to firearm possession charges, while court documents reveal that federal agents arrested his father inside a Miami courthouse. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers detained the elder Whittaker in the building lobby with assistance from the FBI, according to filings from defense attorney Samuel Rabin.

Aaron Whittaker had previously appeared on Jamaican media, claiming persecution drove him from the island and alleging coordinated efforts between American and Caribbean law enforcement against his family. He remains held by immigration authorities despite incomplete public records, with sources suggesting unresolved status matters. The father denied gang connections attributed to Squash and insisted the artist focuses solely on music production.

The performer admitted guilt in a plea agreement related to weapons recovered during a February traffic stop. His legal team has requested less than two years imprisonment when the judge delivers the sentence.
