St Pete teen duped into sending 10M rubles

Phone scammers tricked a 13-year-old boy from St. Petersburg into giving them over 10 million rubles. His mother, who lives with her son on Alexander Matrosov Street, reported this theft to police on Monday, April 21. The criminals spent several days convincing the teenager he needed to move money for safety reasons.

The boy transferred 9.9 million rubles because scammers told him the cash needed to be declared. They made him send another 350 thousand rubles afterward. Police officials confirmed they opened a criminal case about this incident. Law enforcement is searching for these thieves who stole exactly 10.25 million rubles from the family.

Children often become targets for such schemes. A similar case happened in the Leningrad Region, where a girl took 7.5 million rubles from her parents. She found the money in their safe at home before handing it all to strangers. These scammers use persuasive tactics to make young people believe their stories about needing to protect family assets.
