St. Petersburg to impose new traffic restrictions from June 22

Construction crews will start fixing water pipes and gas lines around St. Petersburg next week. City workers need to dig up roads and sidewalks for these important repairs. Traffic will move slower through two neighborhoods during the summer months. Drivers should expect delays and find different ways to reach their destinations. Officials want everyone to know about these changes before they begin.

The first area getting worked on sits near the university waterfront. Cars cannot use the full width of University Embankment from late June through middle July. Workers will block some lanes between Mendeleyevskaya Line and the first streets of Vasileostrovsky Island. This repair job lasts almost four weeks and affects many daily commuters. People who live nearby must find new paths to work and school.

The second construction zone covers roads around Malo-Okhtinsky area. Crews will narrow traffic lanes on Malo-Okhtinsky Prospekt from Tallinskaya Street down to the small river embankment. These restrictions run until mid-July and change how vehicles move through Krasnogvardeisky District. Local businesses worry about customers having trouble reaching their shops. Delivery trucks must also plan different routes during this period.

City traffic inspectors released information about both projects to help residents prepare. They recommend studying maps and testing new driving routes before restrictions start. Smart planning prevents people from getting stuck during rush hour traffic jams. The government promises to finish all pipe work as quickly as possible.
