STALKER 2 marks one year with PS5 debut and updates

GSC Game World has confirmed that the first downloadable content expansion for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will arrive within the next calendar year, according to Communications Director Zakhar Bocharov. The PlayStation 5 edition launches after completing its timed Microsoft exclusivity period, with the studio reporting over one million copies sold during the initial three-day window and several million additional players through Game Pass subscriptions.

Technical Director Ievgen Kulyk revealed performance specifications for the console versions, stating that standard PlayStation 5 hardware targets 2K resolution at 60 frames per second in performance mode or 4K at 30 frames per second in quality mode. The enhanced PlayStation 5 Pro model achieves 4K resolution at 60 frames per second using temporal super resolution upscaling rather than PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution technology.

The development team continues working on previously announced features, including hardware-accelerated ray tracing and cross-platform modification support, though Bocharov declined to provide updated timelines for multiplayer functionality or the migration to a newer Unreal Engine 5 build.
